The Image Wizards and OpenCamp “Vibrant Art” Photo Contest!

Here’s some exciting news folks! Our good friends over at Image Wizards have decided to help us spread the word about OpenCamp with an amazing photo contest! If you win, you’ll have YOUR photo professionally printed and framed in AluminArte!

The contest begins NOW! And you’ve got about a month (till Saturday 8/28/2010) to get your photo submitted for a chance at the OpenCamp WIN!

What is this AluminArte you speak of?

AluminArte is a museum quality printing process that puts your image on a sheet of aluminum instead of paper or canvas. If you’ve never seen a photo printed on metal – you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! I got a print from Trey Ratcliff created using this process so here is a little peak at what it looks like.

The Theme

The AlluminArte process is so special that you really need a fantastic image to make the most of it, so the theme for the Photo Contest is “Vibrant“!

The Prizes!

First of all, it’s fun just to share your photos with a group of like minded folks, so we all win when you let us see your best work! The top 3 winners get the following!

1st place: A 24″ x 36″ framed AluminArte print
2nd place: A 24″ x 36″ frameless float mount AluminArte print
3rd place: A 16″ x 24″ framed AluminArte print

If your art is selected as a winner we’ll hook you up with Image Wizards and you’ll have to provide provide your art with these specs. Your finished piece will be shipped to you directly!

The Rules

This contest is going to be judged by the dynamic duo of world class HDR photographer Trey Ratcliff, and Fredrick Van Johnson, the host of This Week in Photography. Both of our judges are speaking at OpenCamp, so you won’t want to miss their talks.

The details:

You must have a US address in order to win. (Sorry, but shipping these magnificent images is expensive enough without going to another country.)
Winners will be announced on Sunday August 29, 2010 at OpenCamp. You do NOT need to be present to win (but of course if you are you might be able to bribe one of the judges. ;-)
You must have personally taken the photograph you submit, and you must own the copyright on that photograph.
By submitting your photo you are granting OpenCamp with a non-exclusive license to publish a copy of the photo here on our blog, with attribution of course. (You know, in case we want to showcase your submission!)
All submissions are due by Saturday August 28, 2010 at 11:59pm. (You know, so we have Sunday to judge them.)

How to Enter

Upload your photo to the OpenCamp Flickr Group.
Tag it with “OpenCamp” and “AluminArte“.
Add the exact following text somewhere in the description (it should convert the link automatically when you save the image):

This image was submitted for the <a href=”http://openca.mp/photo-contest”>Image Wizards and OpenCamp Vibrant Photo</a> contest!
Optional (but a good idea): Tweet a link to your photo referencing the contest with the #OCDFW (as in OpenCamp Dallas/FtWorth) hashtag so we all see it!

The text for the description doesn’t format properly once pasted into Flickr.
Flickr converts it to…

When it should be this…

Looks like it’s having a problem with the quotation marks.
